Wildcats & Colts in Showdown at McMahon

The 3-1 Edmonton Wildcats take to the road and head south where they will rumble with their southern rivals the Calgary Colts this Sunday September 16th at McMahon Stadium start time 2:00pm. The Colts currently occupy top spot in the conference at 4-0 and the Wildcats want a piece of that spot this weekend

Offensively Jordan Olsen had a rebound game last weekend against the Winnipeg Rifles that saw him rack up 121 yard rushing on 7 carries and was 14 of 21 for 203 yards passing which netted him PFC Offense player of the week. That performance is what will be needed this weekend to grab a share of top spot in the conference. Winnipeg held Jordan Samoil to just 66 yds on the ground last week and will need to be more productive this weekend as he was against the Colts here at home a couple of weeks ago that saw him rack up 218 yards on 20 carries. Rookie Wide receiver Brad Quartel has been Olsen’s go to guy of late and has been putting up some impressive numbers as he was targeted 5 times for 85 yards and a TD in the win against the Rifles last week.

Defensively the Cats held the Rifles to just 3 points in the first half of last weekend’s game but then took their foot off the gas as Winnipeg put up 27 points in the second half to make it closer than it should have been. They won’t get away with that in Calgary this weekend and will need to be focused on playing 60 minutes of football if they want to come away with a win. DB Adam Laurensse posted another 20 point defensive game last week long with LB Aiden Panchyshyn with 7 tackles for 14 points. Good productive number which they will need against the Colts this weekend. On Special teams Ideen Samadi is second in the conference behind Jordan Samoil in scoring points with 45 and hopes to continue his success against the Colts this weekend.

Next game sees the Wildcats at home to host their cross town rival Huskies under the Friday Night Lights September 21st 8:00pm at Clarke Park.

All Edmonton Wildcat practices are at Rundle Park and the players take to the field at around 7:30 pm nightly.
