Edmonton Wildcats Spring Camp and 2011 Schedule
Another football season is upon us and the Wildcats open up the 2011 season with their spring camp Thursday May 12th through Saturday May 14th at Clarke Park. Practices are from 7:00pm -9:00pm Thursday and Friday while Saturday runs from 9:00am to 11:00am with an afternoon practice from 1:00pm -3:30pm. The turnout for this year’s camp is significant as over 100 players have registered to compete for spots on the Wildcats roster.
The Wildcats are pleased to have in attendance a number of guest coaches from different levels of coaching including this year from the Edmonton Eskimos, DB-Corbin Sharun, OL-Gordon Hinse and LS-Taylor Inglis who are currently on the Eskimos Roster for 2011. These three players are all Wildcat Alumni and had great success with the Edmonton Wildcats and were all huge factors in the winning of the 2006 and 2009 PFC and Intergold Championships before moving up to the professional ranks of the CFL.
The Wildcats are excited to bring in 4 successful coaches from the High School ranks to offer their perspective. Matthew Wojcicki from Holy Trinity, Adam Belanger from Camrose, Brock Dermot from Salisbury and Trevor Pritchard from St Joe’s (GP).
The Cats will also have in attendance several Wildcat Alumni. He played his college football at Bowling Green, was a second-team All-MAC in 2001 and was the recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award in 2005. Campbell has also been a member of the New York Jets, the Washington Redskins and has recorded over 100 tackles and 2 forced fumbles in his NFL career as of 2008.
Dustin Keller # 81 of the New York Jets is tackled by Khary Campbell #50 of the Washington Redskins in a preseason NFL game at Giants Stadium, August 16th 2008 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Head Coach Darcy Park is quoted as saying “…relationships between teammates never diminish” and our guest coaches exemplify that, and that’s what being a Wildcat is all about. I am extremely proud to have all these gentlemen helping out not to mention all the Alumni who will be visiting throughout the Camp…”
