Wildcats Host Cross Town Rival Huskies

The Edmonton Wildcats are at home this weekend to host the 0-4 Edmonton Huskies this Saturday at Clarke Stadium, start time 7:00pm in what has been called the Black and Blue game. The Wildcats control their own destiny in making the post season as they head into Saturdays contest with their cross town rivals. This is the most important game of the year for the Cats and they will need to be firing on all cylinders if they want to secure a win this weekend.

Offensively the Wildcats will need to be sharp and control the line of scrimmage with 5th year O-Lineman Logan Trachuk leading the way. The running game of 2nd year Taylor Souster will be a key factor in the Wildcats getting off to a good start on Saturday. Wide Receiver Ryan Smith had a great second half of the game in the contest against the Rifles 2 weeks ago hauling in 13 catches for 134yds and will be looking for that same kind of productivity this weekend.

Defensively the Cats will need to dominant the line shutting down the running game while putting pressure on the quarterback with veteran Steven Giang and Kevin Hanson leading the way. Locking down the secondary will be Zack Brown, Kris Gibson, Sam Badre and Brendan Fair. Special teams as always will be one of the keys to success on Saturday. The team is well rested after the bye week and is hungry to get back at it this weekend.

Next game sees the Wildcats hit the road to face the Saskatoon Hilltops at the Gordie Howe Bowl in Saskatoon, Sunday Sept 25th game time 1:00pm.

All Edmonton Wildcat practices are at Rundle Park and the players take to the field at around 7:30 pm nightly.
