Wildcats at Colts Game Summary

The Calgary Colts hosted the Edmonton Wildcats Saturday night for the last meeting of these two teams in the 2015 regular season. After a strong defensive battle, the Colts came out with a victory of 20-18.

The first quarter saw only a single point on the board, making it a score of 1-0 for the Colts. The second quarter started off with a Marshall Brown field goal 0:17 into the quarter, increasing the Colts lead to 4-0. At 3:53, Olson passed to Hakunavanhu, giving the Wildcats the first touchdown of the game. Score was 7-4 for the Wildcats.  The Colts reciprocated with an Xavier Ramsay touchdown, taking back the lead. In the last play of the half, Ryan Smith kicked a Wildcat field goal, reducing the Colt lead to 11-10 for the half.

The second half saw no movement on the score board until 6:36 into Q3, when Jordan Olson ran one in, giving the Wildcats a 17-11 lead. Marshall Brown kicked another Colt field goal at 9:20, ending Q3 with a score of 17-14 for the Cats. The 4th quarter was a defensive battle with no shift in the score until 14:17, when the Wildcats got a single point. In the last play of the game, Colt Coel Bazinet ran one in, giving them the lead for a final score of 20-18.

The Wildcats total offense saw 339 yards, 183 in the air and 161 on the ground. Rushing was led by Bray Josue who had 21 carries for 135 yards. Pass receiving was led by Luther Hakunavahu with 6 catches for 57 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Jordan Olson completed 17 out of 27 attempts for 183 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception.

The Wildcats defense was led by Linebacker Jeremy Fagnan with 4 tackles, 1 assisted tackle, 1 special teams tackle, and 1 fumble return for a total of 13 points. Also leading the defense was Defensive Back Jayden Dalke who had 3 tackles, 1 special teams tackle, and 1 interception and Linebacker Cameron Maschmeyer who had 5 tackles and 1 assisted tackle.

The Wildcats are 1-4 heading into their first game with the Winnipeg Rifles. The next game is Sunday, September 27 at 12pm in Winnipeg.
