Hilltops Beat Wildcats 41-10
The Edmonton Wildcats fell short to the Saskatoon Hilltops 41-10 in Sunday’s playoff battle.
The Wildcats had a strong start to the game, with an Ideen Samadi field Goal 4:17 in, giving them 3-0 lead at the end of the 1st. Their lead continued when Levon Hawreliak found the end zone a short 2:17 into the second quarter. The Hilltops responded with two touchdowns by Evan Kopchynski at the 5:00 and 11:49 marks, stealing the lead from the Wildcats 14-10. The second quarter ended with a Brett Thorarinsson Field Goal for the Hilltops, increasing their lead to 17-10.
The third quarter saw three touchdowns for the Hilltops, all by Andre LaLonde, ending the quarter with a score 38-10 for the Toppers. The game concluded with another Brett Thorarinsson Field Goal, giving the Hilltops a 41-10 victory over the Wildcats.
The Wildcats offense saw 325 yards, with 259 of them rushing and 66 passing. Levon Hawreliak led the rushing with 23 carries for 241 yards. Levon also lead the receiving with 3 catches for 11 yards, followed by Ryan Smith with 2 for 25 yards. Quarterback Jordan Olson completed 2 out of 5 passes before leaving the game injured. Taylor Yaremchuk stepped in and completed 5 of 13 passes.
The Wildcats defense was lead by Aidan Panchyshyn with 21 points that consisted of 9 tackles and 3 assisted tackles.
