Wildcats Regular Season Finale Against The Thunder
The 4-3 Edmonton Wildcats take to the road and head next door to visit the 4 -3 Regina Thunder at Mosaic Stadium in Regina on Sunday Oct 7th at 1:00 pm where they will be fighting for 3rd place in the division where they are currently tied with the Thunder. The Wildcats are coming off a disappointing loss to the Hilltops and want to get back to their winning ways against the Thunder heading into the Playoffs. Meanwhile the Thunder are coming off a close contest against the Rifles last weekend and will be looking to continue their winning streak.
Offensively Jordan Samoil will be looking to rebound from a game that saw the Hilltops shut down the run game and limit him to just 37 yards on 11 carries. The passing game will need to get back on track with Taylor Yaremchuk and Jesse Schneider after recording just 107 yards in the air against the Hilltops last weekend. On Special Teams Tylor Henry sparked the offense with a 103 yard punt return for a TD this past weekend, claiming the PFC special Teams honors of the week. He also leads the conference in Punt returns with 419 yards on 30 returns
Defensively the Cats will need another big game from LB Aiden Panchyshyn who had 9 tackles and 1 INT in last weekend’s game along with Riley Aiken who came away with 6 tackles and 2 knockdowns in the secondary. Eliminating the turnovers will be a strong focus in this weeks practice as the Cats turned the ball over 5 times against the Hilltops resulting in 10 points posted by the visitors.
This concluded the end of the regular Season. Playoff dates and time will be determined after this weekend.
All Edmonton Wildcat practices are at Rundle Park and the players take to the field at around 7:30 pm nightly.
