Wildcats Take Player of the Week Honors in PFC Final
The Edmonton Wildcats walk away with all three Player of the week honors from the PFC Final against the Hilltops this past weekend. They are as follow:
OFFENSE- JUSTIN MCEVOY-RB – EDMONTON WILDCATS
The run game would be a huge factor due to a waterlogged & muddy field in Saskatoon, and McEvoy would be a big contributor to the Wildcats 33-20 championship triumph over the Hilltops. McEvoy would run 23 times for 110 yards with a touchdown in the Gordie Howe Bowl muck. During the regular season, McEvoy ran for 526 yards on 113 carries, placing 3rd in the PFC.
DEFENSE- STEVEN GIANG- DL- EDMONTON WILDCATS
The lineman recorded a 14 point game in the championship victory compliments of 1 tackle, 2 assists, 2 sacks, a pass knockdown & a forced fumble. Giang amassed 9 tackles, 5 assisted tackles, 3 batted balls, and 1 forced fumble for 31 DPTS during the regular season.
SPECIAL TEAMS- BEN HNIDAN- P/PK- EDMONTON WILDCATS
Hnidan claims his 4th conference honor of the season. The rookie kicked a pair of field goals from 37 & 15 yards in the championship win. He would also average 37.3 yards on 11 punts under less than ideal field conditions.
Hnidan led both the PFC & the CJFL in scoring with 94 points and averaged 34.5 yards/punt during the campaign.
All Edmonton Wildcat practices are at Rundle Park and the players take to the field at around 7:30 pm nightly.
